Fardly helps you keep up your five daily prayers with your family and friends. It was built around one idea: your worship is yours. This policy explains, plainly, what Fardly collects, why, who can see it, and how long it's kept.
Who we are. Fardly is run by Mohammed Dualeh ("Fardly", "we"), who is responsible for your data. For anything about your data, email privacy@fardly.app.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Your sign-in: your email address and an account ID from Apple or Google | To create your account and sign you in. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only get a relay address. | Until you delete your account |
| Your name as you enter it in Fardly | So people in your circles know who you are | Until you change it or delete your account |
| Circles: their names, invite codes, and who is in them | To run your circles | Until the circle has no members, or you leave or delete your account |
| Snaps: a photo of your prayer mat and, if you choose, a photo of you, plus which prayer and when | To share with the circles you choose | Deleted at the end of your prayer day (the next Fajr). The photo files are removed from our storage within about two hours of that. |
| Duas you make on others' snaps | To show the author that you made dua | Deleted with the snap |
| Nudges you send | To deliver a gentle reminder | Deleted after two days |
| Your face setting for each circle | So each circle sees only what you allow | Until you leave the circle |
| Blocks | So blocked people can't see your snaps or nudge you, and you don't see theirs | Until you unblock, or either account is deleted |
| Reports you send, and reports about you | So our team can review problems and keep circles safe | Until reviewed, then for up to 12 months as a record. Your name is removed from reports you sent if you delete your account. |
| A push notification token for your phone | To send you nudges, shares and duas, if you turn notifications on | Until you sign out, turn notifications off, or delete your account |
| Your notification choices | So you only hear about what you want | Until you delete your account |
What stays on your phone and is never sent to us: your prayer log, streaks, excused mode, your location and prayer-time settings, and your adhan reminder schedule.
What we don't collect: contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, browsing history, analytics or crash data, or audio. The camera is only used when you tap Snap.
Notifications never include photos. A share notification says who shared which prayer, not what's in the snap.
About photos you share. Anyone who can see your snap could take a screenshot of it on their own phone. Fardly can't prevent that, so share with circles you trust.
We use a small number of service providers to run Fardly. They process data only on our instructions:
We never sell your data or share it for advertising. We'll disclose data if the law requires it, and only what's required.
Wherever you live, you can:
If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk). We rely on our contract with you to run the service, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it safe (blocking and reports).
Fardly is for people aged 13 and over. If you're under the age of digital consent where you live, ask a parent or guardian before using it. If you believe a child under 13 is using Fardly, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Who can reach your snaps at all (circle membership, face settings, blocks and expiry) is enforced on our servers, not just in the app. The "pray first" lock is a feature of the app that encourages prayer, not a security control. Data is encrypted in transit, photos are stored privately and reached only through short-lived links, and we test these rules regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
